Wildlife sightings
Apr. 5th, 2011 08:02 pmAs they say, one swallow does not make a summer. However, it was still a pretty welcome sight, especially since we've had very little spring so far this year.
Also, on the way home from my dr. appt., dinner, etc. this evening, a dog was running around in the street ahead of me -- and suddenly I realized it wasn't a dog at all, but a small and mangy coyote! (Possibly literally mangy, or maybe just shedding -- his coat looked pretty chewed up.) My first thought was to pull over and coax it into the car so it wouldn't get run over. My second thought was that that was a really stupid first thought. My backseat = not a good habitat for wild coyotes.
When I last glimpsed it in the rearview mirror, it was still running around in the road. :-( I hope the little guy/gal is okay. Suburban coyotes do seem to be, of necessity, pretty road savvy.
